Taking Orders

We are now taking orders for the spring of 2019 for 4 frame nucleus colonies. We are a licensed Northern Ontario queen and nucleus colony producer. We have limited quantities so order early to avoid being disappointed. The price is $220. with a deposit of $100 due when placing you order and the balance due when you pick up your bees between May 15th and the end of June. What is a 4 frame nucleus colony? A 4 frame nucleus colony is a small colony that is the best way for beginners to learn because they can grow in experience as their hive grows in size. Most people find it very overwhelming to go into a full size hive when they are just starting out so the nucleus colony is the way to go. The nucleus colony is also used by experienced beekeepers to increase the size of their apiary or replace hives that have been lost over the winter. What a nucleus colony consists of is a 4 frame box full or bees with their own queen. It has 2 frames of brood (baby bees still in the cell) one frame with honey and pollen ( for them to eat and feed their baby) and a pulled frame for the queen to lay eggs in. When you get your nucleus colony it needs to be put in full size hive equipment because the amount of bees in the nucleus are ready to expand which is how it expands into a full size hive over the summer and sometimes even produces honey in the first year. We also have a beekeeping equipment shop that you can purchase anything you need to become a successful beekeeper and we give classes for beginning beekeepers in the spring. Check out our website fbeefarm.com. You can also send us an email with any questions you may have info@fbeefarm.com or call 705-571-7082.
